SunRay Park and Casino Fined $7,500

SunRay Park and Casino in New Mexico has been fined $7,500 for failing to disclose to state gaming officials that one of their key executives had faced criminal charges in the past.

The New Mexico Gaming Control Board issued the citation in May following the assent of Farmington businessman Bernard Strunk to resign as an executive with SunRay Park and Casino after being in the executive post for 5 years.

Strunk left his post at the casino on March 30, 2005, two days before a state gaming investigator began looking into his 2003 arrest.

The Gaming Control Board looked to cancel Strunk's certifications for the omission of the casino in June 22 of 2005. This came after Strunk failed to inform the state within the given 10 days that he faced criminal charges, as state documents show.

SunRay's former executive Strunk was charged with a fourth degree felony after beating up a man in December 2003. He was later convicted for the act of attempted aggravated battery.

The charge has been recently struck off Strunk's permanent record after being granted a conditional discharge for completing 18 months of unsupervised probation as reflected in court records and according to his lawyer Jack Fortner.
